With over 12 years of diverse experience in education, I bring a comprehensive perspective on teaching and learning that spans preschool, high school, adult education, and higher education.

My academic background includes a Master’s Degree in Teaching from New York University (NYU), a Bachelor’s Degree from an HBCU, NC Central University. I hold a Standard K–12 teaching license. I’ve worked as an adult basic education instructor, a Pre-K to High School lead teacher, a Grade Level Chair, high school Dean of Student Culture, adjunct instructor, and instructional coach, and education consultant. Each role sharpening my ability to guide others toward professional growth.

Throughout her career, Marliss has taken on transformative roles, including Lead Dean of Students, English Department Chair, and Grade Level Chair. She has successfully created and led student achievement initiatives, developed professional development programs, and developed and implemented restorative practices to foster inclusive learning environments. In leadership roles at charter schools in Newark and Jersey City, NJ, she designed and maintained behavioral and academic systems, led data-driven decision-making, and championed equity-centered school improvement plans.

Currently serving as an Independent Educational Consultant, Marliss partners with schools to design systems that promote student success and support educator effectiveness. She creates professional learning experiences, supports new teacher development, and collaborates with school leaders to improve retention and positive school culture. Her work has been featured in national education publications and conferences, showcasing her commitment to transforming education through coaching, strategy, and culturally responsive practices.
